Toyota Highlander Recall: Fuel Delivery Pipe

This is just a quick note to let you know that Toyota has just announced a voluntary safety recall that might affect some of you. This recall applies to approximately 20,000 model year 2014 Toyota Avalon, Highlander, Sienna, and model year 2015 Lexus RX vehicles.

According to Toyota:

“In the involved vehicles, the end cap on the right-hand fuel delivery pipe in the engine compartment could have been insufficiently welded during manufacturing at the supplier. In this condition, fuel could leak from the fuel delivery pipe and, in the presence of an ignition source, could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.”

They further stated that they’re not aware of any fires, crashes, injuries, or fatalities due to this problem. If your vehicle is affected, they should be notifying you by first class mail. You can also check for outstanding recalls by entering your VIN at toyota.com/recall.

If your vehicle is included in this recall, you should visit your dealer’s service department. They will inspect the fuel delivery pipe and, if it was produced by the supplier in question, replace it with a new one.
